Reason to honor our troops: Incredible Sacrifice

Nearly 1 in 5 troops has mental problems after war service

Our troops have exemplified Christ-like sacrifice in this war. They give so much in order to protect America and the world and they fight for the freedom of Iraqi and Afghani people. We have work ahead of us as a nation to take care of these daring soldiers as they return from the war abroad. Thankfully, I see our nation ready to receive the troops when they are ready to return.

Bumper Sticker Back Talk: God isn't a Republican. Or a Democrat.

Bumper Sticker: God is not a Republican. Or a Democrat.

Here is another pointless bumper sticker. Liberals who believe in the traditional concept of God are increasingly marginalized by their secular counterparts and they’re frustrated that the majority of religious people, especially Christians, in America are conservative. So the Sojourners came up with an advertisement in 2004 with this lovely heading. Fortunately, illogic doesn’t matter to conservatives and the Sojourner’s ad collects dust in the dust bin of election history. George Bush isn’t your president? Well, John Kerry isn’t anyone’s president.

The principle their trying to convey is something that John Kerry said at the DNC in 2004, “It is not about who’s side God is on, it is about whether or not we are on God’s side.” Of course, the liberals clapped hysterically when he said this. Many of them don’t believe in God but they believe that God is on their side none the less. I don’t have a problem with that. I believe that God is on my side, as a conservative. And now that I think of it, I would agree. God is not a Republican. He is a conservative.

Back to the principle, it could be stated, “God doesn’t take sides.” First off, we would agree that God would take the side of the truth. For example, God takes sides on the issue of murder. Some people apparently think it is okay to murder, because they do it. God takes the side that murder is wrong, immoral, evil, unethical, whatever right? Good, we agree. So, there you go it is done. God does take sides. Now, I gave you a counter example. However, there is a better argument that shows the fatal flaw in this liberal logic, Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason has already debunked this principle. All I can do is to reiterate his argument. Consider this:

Person A says: God doesn’t take sides.

Person B says: God does take sides.

Who’s side is God on? You can’t say God isn’t on either side. God is on the side of the truth. Whichever one is true, God is on that side. So, it is a self-defeating statement.

You know, rationality is a God-given faculty. I wish liberals would exercise it once in a while. It really is a gift to be sane.

As an afterthought, liberals often complain about the separation of church and state. That is really a red herring. Liberals want to remove religious people from the public arena because we have competing agendas. Liberals know they can’t win, so they try to silence those with whom they disagree. Maybe that’s why they look up to the communist Soviet Union, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez so much. But really folks, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke out against racism because he was a Christian. He invoked God and religion constantly. Liberals did not cry out for separation of church and state then. “Separation of church and state” is just a disguise for the liberal attack on the freedom of speech in this great nation.

Imagine there's no liberals

Imagine there's no liberals
It's easy if you try
No pinkos to subvert us
No commie flags to fly
Imagine all the people
Living for the truth...

Imagine there's no hippies
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to alter your mind for
And no protestors too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a war hawk
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
The terrorists will die one by one

Imagine no Democrats
I wonder if you can
No need for higher taxes
And freedom for all men
Imagine all the people
Growing all the wealth...

You may say I'm a nut case
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And America will live as one

Racist Eugenics in Planned Parenthood history: Reasoning still alive on the left.

I hope everyone heard about this news story wherein a hired actor pretended to be interested in making a monetary contribution to an Idaho Planned Parenthood, where it is legal to tape phone conversations, explaining that they wanted the money used to target unborn black babies. The Planned Parenthood rep. was totally supportive.

“The actor spoke with Autumn Kersey, vice president of development and marketing at PPI, and said he wanted his donation to be used for "underprivileged minority groups." The caller went on to say, "I really face trouble with affirmative action, and I don't want my kids being disadvantaged, you know, against black kids" (Call transcript, 3/20). Kersey said it was the "first time" a donor had made "this kind of request" but added that she was "excited" to receive the donation.”(Planned Parenthood Of Idaho Apologizes After Employee Agrees To Accept Racially Motivated Donation © 2007 The Advisory Board Company. All rights reserved.)”http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/101262.php

Now I don’t really believe that Planned Parenthood is racist. Although…black abortions do make up a disproportionate amount of the total abortions in the US and clinics are more common in poorer neighborhoods. And it is totally in line with the beliefs of Planned Parenthood's founders. Margaret Sanger was one of Planned Parenthood’s founders. It was part of Margaret Sanger’s vision to use abortions and birth control to practice eugenics through which the “unfit,” especially blacks, would fail to reproduce and their genes would die out. Read some of Margaret’s own words:

"The undeniably feeble-minded should, indeed, not only be discouraged but prevented from propagating their kind." (Sanger, quoted in Charles Valenza: "Was Margaret Sanger a Racist?" Family Planning Perspectives, January-February 1985, page 44.)

Who were the feeble minded? Sanger has an answer.

“It is said that a fish as large as a man has a brain no larger than the kernel of an almond. In all fish and reptiles where there is no great brain development, there is also no conscious sexual control. The lower down in the scale of human development we go the less sexual control we find. It is said that the aboriginal Australian, the lowest known species of the human family, just a step higher than the chimpanzee in brain development, has so little sexual control that police authority alone prevents him from obtaining sexual satisfaction on the streets.” (Sanger, "What Every Girl Should Know", 1920, p. 47)

Granted this was nearly ninety years ago, some of these faulty beliefs were more common than they are today. But the important thing is that Sanger expressed ideas that are still present on the political left.

  1. We know better than others what is good for them.
  2. It is often better to die, than to be born in a poor neighborhood.
  3. The lives and posterity of educated individuals are more valuable than those of poor, uneducated people.
  4. It is better to promote abortion, than to allow the births of babies with statistically high chances of becoming criminals.
  5. The decrease in crime justifies the increase in abortions.
  6. A human’s life value varies depending on how much a mother wants that human life to continue.
  7. A woman can get pregnant and abort the pregnancy on demand.
  8. A woman should not have to feel guilty about killing her unborn child. She should even feel good.

Some people reading this may have no problem with the things on this list. I just wanted to point out that this line of thinking, even if not racist, is shared by leftists today as it was by racist eugenics proponents of the last century.

"Progressive Mom" Surprised by Gender differences.

"Karen Quinn, a New York City-based author, likes to think of herself as a progressive parent. A former lawyer and businesswoman, she paints, writes books (three novels to date) and tries to avoid pushing her two kids -- Sam, 15, and his sister Schuyler, 16 -- into gender-based pigeonholes. But when it comes to money, she finds Sam and Schuyler are spending right along gender lines. Both drop the biggest part of their weekly allowances on food -- fast food for Sam, who gets $80 a week, and Chinese and Japanese takeout for Schuyler, who is given $120. Movies are a close second. But after that, Sam's money goes to ring tones, music and videos; Schuyler spends her money on clothes and shoes.

"It's amazing that the gender stereotypes are so consistent," says Quinn. "I don't encourage them one way or another -- they can buy whatever they want. But it's been fascinating to see how they spend the extra cash."

by Abby Ellin "America's youth will command more than $21 billion in pocket money by 2010, according to one study. Here's how they're dropping their cash."
..........................................................................................

I’m not really sure why this point about gender is so prominent in an article with this title. However, what amazes me is how surprised and even flabbergasted this mother is at the fact that boys and girls act different without being coerced by their parents. Sure, staunch gender-sameness supporters will say that society is so prevalent with gender stereotypes that these children have fallen into it in spite of parents efforts not to promote any stereotypes. Can anyone really believe this? It is as though she is surprised that boys have more testosterone and girls have more estrogen. Or is that just a stereotype?

I can guarantee you that this woman learned this gender-sameness nonsense from the university she attended. I’m sure that the university professors were very impressed with themselves when they came up with this idea. This mom is so proud to be a “progressive parent.” No doubt she is proud that she holds idiotic ideas and she has no intent to reexamine her beliefs given that her personal experience dictates otherwise. This college educated generation worries me. Common sense is traded for political correctness and it is seeping into the fabric of our society.

Parents, don't be surprised if your kids come out of college believing this nonsense.

Pray for Aliza Shvarts: Abortions as 'art'

"A senior art major at Yale will display blood samples from her multiple abortions brought on after artificially inseminating herself in an upcoming art show sponsored by the university. " - Amanda Carpenter Thursday, April 17, 2008 Yale Student Induces Abortion for 'Art'

I can't believe that the school is allowing this to continue. This student is artificially inceminating herself in order to give herself abortions and use the blood for an 'art' project. This makes me so sick that I have nothing to say but "Pray for Aliza Shvarts."

Rosenbaum of Huffington: Economy not an issue.

Steve Rosenbaum of the Huffington Post accuses McCain of taking a pass on “all things that might resemble issues” after McCain gives a speech in which he makes very specific proposals. Rosenbaum even responded to the proposals McCain made in the very same blog. How did Rosenbaum miss them? Maybe Rosenbaum doesn’t count taxes, the war, and foreclosures as issues.

Or maybe he is so caught up in the Obamania that he can’t see anything good in anything but Obama. Listen to how Rosenbaum talks about the Obama fundraiser he went to. “Walking in the door, things were different. There was no huge Obama For President banner… Wainwright performed his song "Going to a Town."…[it] has the theme 'I'm so sick of American."…But then - in a hopeful note, he closed with "hallelujah" which was incredibly moving…. The seriousness of the event was strangely inspirational….I left the Paula Cooper Gallery on Saturday with a real sense of the important work ahead, and the opportunity to be part of something really important.” Need I refer Rosenbaum to www.getoverobama.com? But I digress.

…………………………………

Rosenbaum complains, “Yesterday, under pressure from someone or something, McCain came out with his economic 'plan'…McCain gets to continue in Iraq. The Bush tax cuts are made permanent (the tax cuts McCain opposed!). There's relieve for foreclosures that are the result of the mortgage mess, and - wait for it - CORPORATE TAX RELIEF. I love that one.”

…………………………………………

First off, McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts because he wanted Congress to come up with a better plan for tax cuts, not because he opposed them in principle. Secondly, as far as spending, Rosenbaum’s self-identified “man,” Barack also supports relief for foreclosures. The difference is Obama wants to spend more than McCain does.

As for the corporate tax relief, I have a few questions for Rosenbaum. How do you expect to keep American companies that provide jobs and tax revenue in America if you don’t relieve these excessive taxes? Do you suppose your man’s socialist policies will keep companies here while his policies limit the amount that a CEO can earn to 5 times the amount of the lowest paid full time employee? Or should we break our trade agreements that so far have helped stabilize our economy in a downturn?

Look, the problem with all of this is that these socialist policies are the very things that are driving American individuals down. This is so basic; I often wonder why it is even controversial. If more companies are here (and taxes are lower), tax revenue will increase because work and productivity will increase. More Americans will have jobs and they will pay taxes. Here in California we’ve lost tax revenue because companies and wealthy families are forced to move because they can’t afford the high taxes. It’s even worse in San Francisco. For example, restaurant owners can’t give their cooks a pay raise because the city keeps raising the minimum wage which forces the owner to raise the pay for servers who make tips. Meanwhile, this liberal policy hurts the cooks. The hard-working, blue collar, (often Mexican) laborers are actually hurt by liberal controls on the market.

Protectionism and trade is a different issue. I don’t claim to understand the issue fully. It is complicated. The only point I want to make here is that with open trade, you gain jobs and you lose jobs. That’s the nature of the market. Ohio, as I understand, lost jobs in steal manufacturing because of trade, but they gained almost as many jobs in steal distribution because of trade. I won’t say anymore for fear of misspeaking.

…………………………………….

Then Rosenbaum reiterates his confused thinking:

“By rolling back the Federal Government's 18 cent per gallon gas tax. Really. Truly. This is great math….

We'll collect less taxes. We'll spend more money. We'll give tax breaks to corporations. And in the end - we'll come out ahead.

[McCain’s] proven that he's prepared to continue the 8 years of Bush reckless spending.”

………………………………………

I know Rosenbaum doesn’t understand that lowering taxes will actually help Americans and may actually increase tax revenue. But he criticizes McCain for promulgating Bush spending after McCain explicitly stated that Republican’s, including Bush, need to restore the GOP as the party of fiscal responsibility and stop all of the irresponsible spending. McCain’s record, unlike Obama’s, actually supports this view.

Finally, Rosenbaum accuses McCain of pandering. I’m not sure if Rosenbaum is aware that responding to the American people is not pandering. If Americans want lower taxes, why not give Americans lower taxes? I know Rosenbaum believes liberals like him know how to spend other peoples’ money better than they do, but really?

You know? I get my news from the Google News page. Why do they even allow Huffington Post blogs on their page? Huffington Post is perverted, twisted, and their posters use sarcasm to cover up a lack of thoughtful commentary. I’d like to see a well-written Townhall.com column up on Google News. But Google is run by the same liberals that run the news media. Alas, conservatism survives in the hearts and souls of the American people and the news media is left to wonder why they are losing the culture war.

New Initiative Ideas: Incentives for Congress

I have three new initiative ideas for California. I need review because I am wary of the law of unintended consequences, which could be stated, when you make a law sometimes there are unintended consequences (i.e. bicycle riders wearing helmets are more likely to get in an accident because, apparently, drivers mistakenly assume that they have more experience, according to a report on the Paul Harvey show). Here is the inspiration for my initiatives: the private sector runs more efficiently than the public sector because they have incentives.

#1 A huge pay bonus to every legislator in the state congress when the state deficit is reduced significantly without raising current tax percentages or creating new taxes.

*Specific amounts yet to be determined.
*Of course, the congress is permitted to use increased tax revenue. e.g. from increased consumer spending at the same sales tax rate.

#2 Legislators are penalized when the state deficit increases. Any year that the deficit increases from the year before, the state legislature cannot pass a wage increase for the legislators.

#3 A very huge pay bonus for legislators in a year that the state budget goes from a deficit to a surplus. This initiative is to be cancelled after the first year it occurs.

Just some ideas. Try not to burst my bubble, but let's see if we can avoid negative consequences while preserving good ones.

One downside to this idea so far is that we'd be paying congressmen and women more to do the job that they're already supposed to be doing. My response is, so what? As long as congress saves us more money than we pay them. Everyone wins.

Another downside to my first idea is that sometimes a new tax is a good thing. Whoa there. I can't believe I just said that. Democrat Calderon in California has proposed a redefinition of electronic downloads so that they will fall under the California sales tax. I support this idea to tax previously untaxed goods. Apparently, this approach, by redefining electronic goods uses a loophole. It does not create a new tax per se. Rather the goods previously defined as intangible fall under the current sales tax laws. I wouldn't want to prevent our congress from finding creative ways to increase tax revenue.

So...just keep in mind, there are a lot of ways to create incentives for congress. Why not have some in place?

Go ahead Obamunist. Say what you really believe.

"And it's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
(6 April 2008, San Francisco fundraiser)

Say what you really believe Obama. Go ahead. Say it. "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

Bumpersticker Back Talk: "Why do we kill people who kill people in order to show that killing people is wrong?"

Bumper sticker: “Why do we kill people who kill people in order to show that killing people is wrong?”

Not only is the expression on this bumper sticker terribly irresponsible, and anti-intellectual, but the sentiment is devoid of moral courage.

First off, any honest person who cares about the truth would be careful not to misrepresent the reality of the situation. Apparently, the person displaying such a sticker finds a public that favors execution as morally equivalent to the guilty murderer in the chair.

A responsible person might ask, “Why do we execute brutal murderers who victimize innocent people in order to teach that brutally murdering is wrong?” At least this way, we can talk sensibly about the reality of the issue.

Secondly, the reasoning is faulty in both the responsible and irresponsible statements of the question. The question implies that it is wrong to punish a criminal in the same way that the crime was committed. The principle could be stated: if a criminal commits x, then x cannot be punishment.

There is a clear counter-example for which the principle is false. We arrest and imprison people who are guilty of snatching and locking up victims. The bumper sticker could read: “Why do we kidnap people who kidnap people to show that kidnapping is wrong?”

No one to my knowledge is opposed to imprisoning kidnappers. So now that it is clear the whole premise for the bumper sticker is false, I’ll explain why it is devoid of moral courage. The left is so weak when it comes to standing up to evil. The reason why it is important to not only keep the death penalty on the books but to exercise the use of the death penalty for the worst criminals is because it saves innocent lives by deterrence. The typical potential murderer will be careful not commit murder, if they are afraid that they will be put to death. We in turn must be careful to make sure that the death penalty is applied justly and in humane ways. In so doing, innocent lives will be saved.

Afterthought: It occurred to me that the left will not spank their children for fear that their children will learn that hitting is okay. Where does this thinking come from? I know a whole generation of adults raised with spankings as punishment. They were even spanked as punishment for hitting. And they know that it is not okay to use your fist instead of your words. And they will even turn the other cheek (pun intended) in Christ like manner. Spanked children, in my experience, are less likely to hit or have inappropriate physical boundaries, than their non-spanked peers. Just goes to show, you can punish in the same way the offense was committed. It works.

Obama: Pretentious Words from a Pretentious Man

“In the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope? I'm not talking about blind optimism here... No, I'm talking about something more substantial. It's the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs; the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores; the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta; the hope of a millworker's son who dares to defy the odds; the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too. The audacity of hope! “ – Barack Obama

I finally understand what this whole “hope” thing is about with Obama. He has locked into the defective thinking of the left. He thinks that unless the government solves our problems, the problems will forever remain. His whole message is that your hope can be found only in the government.

If you don’t agree with Obama, then he says you participate in a politics of cynicism. I find great dissonance between this view and the view that our hope comes from God. The psalmist writes:

 16 No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.

 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.

18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

 20 We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.

21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.

22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you. (Psalm 33)

Does the psalmist participate in the politics of cynicism? Our Lord Jesus Christ provides hope for Christians. I think it a virtue to find our hope in God and not government. Why? God has proved that He is faithful and just.

Our government:

 - just shipped missile components to Taiwan by accident (25 March 2008).

- can’t balance a budget and is as efficient at spending money as a sift is at carrying water.

- can’t match the outcomes of students attending private schools.

- didn’t do such a great job with the Katrina disaster.

- Look! The list goes on and on.

What is the big problem with big government? Big government control has been tried in the former Soviet Union and it resulted in 100,000s murdered. It is the same with Cuba under Guevara and China under Mao. North Korea under Jong Il is a tale of starvation, poverty, and zero human rights.

Granted, Western Europe has not been involved in any genocide over the last 50 years. The problem is that if we go the route of Western Europe, we will have the same opportunities as Western Europeans. Western Europeans do not have the opportunities Americans have. America as it stands is still the land of opportunity. It is a land full of tales of rags to riches, social mobility, and great progress. That is the story of hope. You live in a land where you can worship as you please in America. It is a land where you can become anything you want to become through decency, hard work, and a little ambition.

That is why I have since the publication of his book, The Audacity of Hope (2006), found his words to be incredibly pretentious. Americans are hopeful. Americans are good people. It does not take audacity to have hope. What does take audacity is calling a nation of hopeful people, “cynics.”

Clinton is desparate, makes empty proposal

Clinton proposes 100,000 police officers on the street.

Everyone knows that before she was elected to her position as New York Senator, Hillary promised 200,000 jobs to New Yorkers. And she came up 450,000 short as New York lost 250,000 jobs while she was serving in the Senate.

Now she proposes 100,000 police. So we can expect a reduction around 125,000 police officers by my calculations. Okay, all kidding aside, employing police officers is actually a good way to spend our tax money as long as it’s reasonable.

She’s saying this to Philadelphians where murders are on the rise. Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if murders were on the rise everywhere where liberals are in charge. I know she's just saying this to get votes. But my problem with the whole thing is the idea that more government spending is the answer. I’ve got an idea for you Hillary. Why don’t we get the government out of people’s lives so that they go to church when they need help and hear a message that God cares for them and for others in their communities, and learn to be responsible somewhere where people can hold them accountable? We all need to be held accountable. There’s no shame in that and it reduces crime. Sounds like a plan?

Obama promoting Envy in Indiana.

Arguing that "something's wrong" when chief executives walk away from collapsed companies while workers lose their pensions, Obama said: "We need to do something to change it. We're going to make CEOs more accountable to shareholders, take away tax credits to companies shipping jobs overseas [and] roll back Bush tax cuts on wealthiest Americans."By Johanna Neuman, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
10:29 AM PDT, April 11, 2008

Based on this quote, I find two things. One, Obama wants you to envy the wealthy. He thinks that if you envy the wealthy, that you will vote for him because he is Robin Hood. He will steal from the rich and give to the poor. Go Obama Hood! So much for acting like a Christian. Envy is a sin Obama. And this isn’t a one time slip-up. Promoting envy is a way of life for Obama.

The second is that he believes that American’s should live in a world with no risks. He thinks we can just spread out the wealth by taking away the rights of successful, honest Americans. Sorry Obama. Your utopia has been tried. It was called the Soviet Union and it collapsed. Others have tried it too. They were called cults. I’m not drinking the kool-aid Obama. Just say “no” to Obama.
