Shame on Ose. Vote McClintock! 4th Congressional District

Doug Ose is running this new add claiming that McClintock is just a big carpetbagger:

“NARRATOR: For 22 years, Tom McClintock has been representing Los Angeles in the Legislature. But now term limits are forcing him out. So he's shopping for a new job. At first he was going to run for Congress here, in L.A. And then he thought about running in the Bay Area. Finally he rolled into our congressional district in Northern California, over 400 miles from home. That's a mighty big stretch to run for office.

OSE: I'm Doug Ose, I was born and raised in Northern California and I approved this ad.”

According to Peter Hecht of the Sac Bee, Doug Ose are both 4th district outsiders and Tom McClintock lives in Elk Grove, CA near Sacramento. I however, don’t care much about hypocrisy on these non-substantive issues. What I do care about is that Doug Ose is breaking the rules of engagement 1 and 2.

1.       He is not talking about substantive issues. The issues should be at the forefront of any campaign. It isn’t substantive because Ose is acting as though an intelligent, hardworking public servant like McClintock would not be able to learn the local issues. McClintock has the experience and the right approach for dealing with the issues as they arise and that is what is substantive.

2.       Ose is misleading the American public. He is distorting the facts by reporting half-truths. The voters are too smart for that in the 4th district. We see through your lies Ose. This is no surprise from Ose. I’m sure he’s a good guy ‘n’ all, but he claims to be a Republican when he is just another tax and spend liberal. Shame on you, Ose.

The other issue that comes up here is term limits. Why do term limits matter in the first place? It doesn’t matter. It is just another way liberals can try and fail to control the system. Term limits do nothing but force good politicians out of office regardless of whether their constituents want them to stay or leave. Term limits take away the individual American voter’s choice to vote for whom they please. (Surprisingly, liberals are only “pro-choice” when it comes to killing babies.)

McClintock has a strong conservative record. He is liked by conservatives and liberals alike because of his common sense and intelligent approach to California’s issues.

Vote McClintock for 4th Congressional District Rep.

Crusader's swords and the Ten Commandments

As an argument regularly leveled against Christianity, some say that Christianity is responsible for a great number of deaths fought in religious wars namely the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, and the Salem Witch Trials. Well, I like Dinesh D’Souza’s response in reply to Christopher Hitchens that Christian’s will take responsibility for these evil deeds committed in the name of Christ, if Atheists take responsibility for deaths committed in the name of their ideologues Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Jong Il, Guevara, Chavez, and others. (I would even lump in Hilter. Although Hilter used some religious rhetoric, he was largely and directly influenced by the writings of Nitchze who proclaimed, “God is dead.”) While I believe that this argument ultimately wins the day. I also found this illustration from history supports the classic Christian response and provides an important lesson.

Many of the Crusaders would get baptized by the church with their swords before going off to battle. They would, however, symbolically hold their swords out of the water during the baptism.

You see, these soldiers understood that their actions were not within the will of God. They knew that their behavior was not supported by Christ’s teaching; it was just the opposite in many cases.

The classic response, then, to the argument against Christianity cited above has historical support. The response, or rebuttal, is that those rapists, murders, and pillagers were not acting in accordance with Christianity, but in moral opposition to it. The atheists mentioned above acted in logically consistent ways with their atheistic beliefs.

The lesson to learn is something that the non-Christians are right about. We must not carry the name of God in vein. That is, we must not go to war in God’s name against the will of God. To do so is a violation of the second of the Ten Commandments given to Moses by God. It is morally destructive to the victim, the perpetrator, and to the cause of Christianity as a whole.

Rules of Engagement Part 1

Rules of Engagement
  1. Talk about the issues that have substance. Don’t make fallacious arguments ad hominem. For example, address the issue of government response to global warming and not the hypocrisy of Al Gore. It doesn’t matter if Al Gore is a hypocrite. What matters is if what he says is true. It doesn't matter if Barack Obama's middle name is Hussain. What matters is whether or not what he says and believes is true. Conservatives are right on the issues. Don’t let others frame the debate about anything else.
  2. Tell the truth. Treat Americans like the smart people that we are. Don’t expect to get away with lies. Although a lie may help you politically in the short term, i.e. “Human need, not Corporate Greed.” No one really favors corporate greed. This only confuses the issues and is in fact deceitful. Ed Shultz uses a good line on his liberal talk radio show. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just not their own facts.” Here, here Ed!! I love it.
  3. Don’t attack the fringe and expect the mainstream to respond. Both sides of the political spectrum has fringe. If someone says to you that they are not conservative because they don’t favor nuking Mecca and Medina, you won’t be swayed to the left because of it. That’s because nuking those cities is an idea that only exists in the irresponsible fringe for the political spectrum. Likewise, many liberals don’t see it as consequential that an Australian fellow favors legalizing infanticide up too 28 days after birth. He’s on the fringe. Democrats make it easy for us however. Many of them hold radical views and have to hide them from the public. For example, Bill Clinton opposed a ban on partial birth abortion (you know when the mother is giving birth to a baby a full term and he/she sticks a pair of scissors up through the mandible into the brains). The liberal major of Washington D.C. apparently favors a complete ban on gun licenses. Hillary Clinton won’t renounce the Moveon.com ad referring to General Petraus as “General Betray us.” These are mainstream examples. They should be good for convincing your Democrat co-worker or your neighbor that their party has departed from the liberal ideals of freedom and democracy in exchange for Marxist ideals of utopian equality.

God owns everything.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (New International Version)

11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
       Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

 12 Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

This lesson is emphasized in Crown Ministries’ financial studies. I just wanted to pass it on as a reminder. Our attitudes can become so negative when we focus on the bad things that happen. Stuff gets stolen. Our cars get wrecked or towed. Someone ruins your shirt. The food takes too long at the restaurant.

It all belongs to God. God owns you, your things, your time, your money, your life, your family, and your friends. So, don’t get mad.

“I don’t know why God wanted a big dent in his brand new car, but there it is and it is big.”

God promises to take care of us. Don’t worry. (Matthew 6:25-34)

Also, we are stewards. That means we should spend wisely. This is one reason why Christians shouldn’t support liberal Democrats or liberal Republicans. Also, we must take care of our environment and conserve our resources and take care of the animals. This is one reason why Christians should support responsible, conservationist policy in Congress. Unfortunately, liberals are rarely responsible and conservatives rarely live up their name as conservationists. The environment belongs to God. Let's take good care of God's green earth.

Honestly, I think the Hummers and the mansions are a little excessive. And it is hurting the conservative cause. I’m not saying it should be taxed or worse, illegal. I am saying, Christians should think about where our hearts are. Give to charities that benefit the poor and don’t take part in excess, be it material or otherwise. Store up treasures in heaven.

Planned Parenthood reports.

Planned Parenthood released it's records for the last fiscal year yesterday. Here's what they show.

"A record 289,650 preborn babies were killed at Planned Parenthood clinics in fiscal year 2006-07, an increase of nearly 25,000 from 2005-06. The nation's largest abortion provider, which received $336 million in taxpayer money last year, is responsible for 25 percent of all abortions in the U.S." -Devon Williams, associate editor (www.citizenlink.com)

This is a national tradegy. As far as the tax money goes, the only consolation I find is that liberals don't want their tax dollars spent on killing terrorists in Iraq and Afgahanistan, they want it spent on abortions. So, it is kind of a bitter-sweet compromise.

"Elton John laments US misogyny."

First we heard that Elton John and Hillary Clinton were blurring the lines on new campaign finance laws. They were laws unfortunately championed by my man, McCain, and also supported by Clinton. His contributions blurred the lines because he is a foreign contributor in an American campaign for which American freedom of speech has been challenged under the guise of “campaign finance reform” that limits the amount of money honest, hardworking individual Americans can contribute to their candidate of choice. (Surprising, liberals are only pro-choice when it involves killing babies.)

Now we are hearing this classic liberal complaint from Elton John:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – “British pop star Elton John, playing a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton in New York on Wednesday, said he was amazed at the misogyny of some in America and he hoped that wouldn't stop her being president.”

Liberals can be so narcissistic. They think that the only reason someone would disagree with them is because they are sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, racist, or otherwise bigoted. Well I have a message for you…

I would vote for a Gay Woman of Mexican heritage….if she were a Conservative Republican.

Quoting Bearded Men

Here's two quotes, do you think they could be from the same person? Answer below.

“Halliburton is not a "company" doing business in Iraq. It is a WAR PROFITEER, bilking millions from the pockets of average Americans. In past wars they would have been arrested — or worse.”

"This war in Iraq makes millions of dollars for big corporations, either weapons manufacturers or those working in the reconstruction, such as Halliburton and its sister companies. . . It is crystal clear who benefits from igniting the fire of this war and this bloodshed."

Can you tell these two quotes apart? Neither can I.

The first is Michael Morre from "Heads Up...from Michael Moore" made on 14 April 2004. The second is from none other than Osama Bin Laden, himself. It is an English translation by MEMRI of a statement made 15 April 2004.

What do you make of this? I just want to say one thing. It wouldn't matter if it wasn't central to the worldview espoused by each of these men, the view that America is the Great Satan. You tell me America. Are you the Great Satan?

Christians: Speak up!

I have found in day to day conversations that many people who believe the following are totally comfortable with blurting out the following. They don’t seem to worry about offending anyone and no one should be offended by what they say. It is their opinion.

-“All religions are basically the same.”

-“We all have a little of God inside us and so humans have great potential beyond our imagination.”

-“All religions are good as long as they promote love and compassion.”

When someone says this I automatically know two things about them. They are very concerned with being compassionate towards and accepting of others. Also, they are not very deep and/or rationally minded people.

On the other hand, Christians are often afraid to say something because they don’t want to offend anyone and they don’t think it is allowed. I say to you Christian, if someone blurts out their opinion, you are totally entitled to a response.

Here are my recommended responses:

-“I’m sorry, but I respectfully disagree. Christianity teaches that salvation comes unmerited by grace and all these other religions say that good works are required. Also, Christianity teaches that there is only one true God revealed in Jesus Christ alone.”

-“I think you don’t pay these religions credit when your take away all distinguishing factors and reduce them to the lowest common denominator.”

-“All love-promoting religions may be good. However, they also make truth claims that cannot all be true. Such as Hinduism teaches that everything is god, and Judaism teaches that there is only one God and that Creator and creation are distinct and different from one another.”

Christians have a responsibility to say something.

2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction.”

1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

You do not have a responsibility to prove to someone that Christ is the only savior. You do have a responsibility to give a reason. And at worst, if someone asks you something you don’t know, get their number, tell them you will find an answer and you will call them back.

Here are some reasons you might give:

-“God has changed my life and has given me salvation and grace.”

-“God has always been faithful to me. I choose to be faithful to Him.”

-“The message of Jesus Christ makes sense to me.”

-“I have learned through my studies and my experience that the truth claims made by Jesus and those found in the Bible are true.”

-“I know that as an imperfect/sinful person, I need a perfect savior to restore my relationship with God. The only perfect savior is Jesus Christ.”

You have a constitutional right to share your beliefs and express your religion.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The laws may change (as with the ways in which public school teachers are allowed to share their beliefs), but your constitutional right remains the same.

Separation of church and state is a right for individuals. So, individuals will not be forced to practice a particular religion by the governmental powers that be. Also, individuals retain the right to practice any peaceful religion. Practice, for Christians, means sharing and proselytizing. That’s the fact.

Appendix: I want to address one more common set of statements I often hear.

-“The Bible has been translated so many times that we don’t really know what it says.”

-“The Bible has been changed over the years through transmission and translation.”

The one thing educated scholars never say about the Bible is that we don’t know what the original Bible said. The Bible is in fact the best documented collection of books in all of antiquity.

-We have possession of over 5000 ancient manuscripts. Many date within 40 years of the life of Christ.

-We can piece together the entire New Testament just from quotations in other first and second century books.

-Every time a new translation is written, the translators are able to go back to the original text, which for the New Testament is in Greek.

When a person says the statements above, they have revealed a great weakness. They clearly have not bothered to study or research the truth for themselves. Politely correct them and encourage them to do a little research. I beg you, take these truth claims seriously. Your neighbor in uttering these statements is trying to either discourage your belief in the Bible, justify their own disbelief, or both. Love your neighbor as yourself and share with them the truth of the gospel as passed down to us very carefully through history in a collection of books called the Bible.

Sin separates us from God. Jesus died to save us from our sin. Trust in Him and be reconciled to a loving God! That’s it. That’s the good news!

Conservative Strategy: Power to the People

I have often wondered how well this reasoning will work.

People often say that they don’t trust their government. None the less, they elect representatives that expand government institutions and power. Republicans have been guilty of this as well as Democrats.

What if a politician got up and cried, “Do you Trust your government?” To which the crowd yells out, “NO!”
-“Then elect conservatives to give the power back to the people!”

Our government leaders and institutions have such low approval ratings and yet they persist. We put them in power. Let’s take it back. As Laura Ingraham’s book is titled, “Power to the People!”

Voters have choices. We can elect someone who will grab power or someone who will give it back to people. In this election cycle, the former is Obama. The latter is McCain. To choose smaller government is to choose to give Power to the People!

John McCain for Unity!

I don’t understand the call for unity (We're not talking Abraham Lincoln here. He fought a war to perserve the union.), but I know a lot of Barak Obama supporters say that they want it. I heard Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM say, “I’m hoping for an Obama presidency because I think he will really unify the country and that’s something we could really use right now.”

First off, the obvious, I would love unity, if everyone agreed with me.

Second, Barack won’t unify the country. He is too far left. All he will do is get the radical, outspoken protestors to shut up about the presidency.

Here is the clincher. Barack has never done anything with bipartisan support. McCain has. McCain is the one that reaches across the isle. McCain for unity!

Skin color doesn't matter.

I heard this on the Michael Medved show and think that it's so important that it needs to be repeated.

You have less than a 1% chance of living in poverty if you do the following four things according to a recent study:
1. Graduate highschool.
2. Avoid having a child out of wedlock.
3. Avoid illegal drugs.
4. Never remain unemployed for six months or longer.

I've also heard studies report that there are four keys of success for my generation:
1. Say 'please' and 'thank you.'
2. Be on time.
3. Finish what you start.
4. Do what you say you will do.

None of these has anything to do with race. It is one human race, after all.

I also wanted to link this editorial from the Pueblo Cheiftain.

He shares Mona Charon's view, "This may not be popular opinion among certain cultural or religious viewpoints, but the truth about poverty reduction is there for anyone willing to work diligently to better an individual’s and/or family’s situation. Best of all it is based upon personal responsibility and smart choices."

This is the message we need to send in order to build a strong America. Thank you for reading.

Conservatives are more compassionate in more ways than one.

With the publication of Arthur Brooks new book, “Who Really Cares,” we have learned that conservatives are more compassionate that liberals when it comes to giving to charity. Some of his findings include the following:

-Although liberal families' incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).

-Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.

-People who reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who accept that proposition.

Having read these statistical facts, I began to ask myself what are other ways that conservatives show their compassion. Here are some of them.
Welfare

Liberals want to give welfare checks to people who can’t or won’t work. Conservatives know that those welfare checks only keep these people dependent on the government and enables irresponsible behavior. The compassionate thing to do is to help people by forcing them the make responsible decisions. Not only do liberals treat the American people like their children, they practice bad parenting.

Immigration

Liberals want to allow immigrants to cross the border undocumented and to vie for American jobs. Who does this hurt the most? The immigrants that came here legally and expect minimum wage. Conservatives have compassion towards the immigrants that came here legally and want to make an honest living under the high flying Star Spangled Banner.

Business

Liberals hate corporations. Conservatives know that those corporations keep America’s economy running and that supporting corporations by lowering taxes allows them to pass on the benefit to the working family man or woman in the office or on the job. It takes a liberal lie to say that the success of public companies is the epitome of selfishness. When a public company does well the share holders do well. Who holds the shares? The everyday American investing some of his earnings in stocks holds the shares and benefits. Have compassion on the working man and the American public that chooses to invest in our future.

Crime and Punishment

Liberals hate punishing criminals. It is all about rehabilitation for criminals, according to liberals. What about the victims? Especially when it comes to the death penalty, liberals go crazy. Who needs compassion, the worst kind of criminal or the victim and the victim’s family? The liberal answer is having mercy on the criminal, while the victim’s family must be denied justice. The liberals say this even when executing the guilty criminal would save more innocent lives by deterrence. By the way, liberals have no problem punishing white collar criminals, where is the compassion towards criminals there? What is the conservative response to all of this? Execute the worst murders to save innocent lives. Punishment works, profound huh?

Abortion

Abortion is the worst case of liberal compassion. Liberals supposedly have compassion on the mother of the unborn child by allowing the women to legally choose to burn the unborn fetus to death with chemicals or later in the term scramble the fetus’s brains. Abortion stops the heartbeat of an unborn human as a medical scientific fact. As a psychological fact, abortion weighs on a woman’s conscience even if she doesn’t realize until years later. Abortion hurts unborn humans and women alike. Conservative compassion prevents that harm.

Much of modern liberal psychology is devoted to helping people suppress their guilt rather than respond to it in a manner that allows the person to heal and mature. That, my friend, is not compassionate. It is destructive and deceitful.

Racial Issues

Liberals claim to be compassionate towards minority racial groups. Although there are many different manifestations of this liberal compassion such as affirmative action in different forms, the presence of “multi-cultural” centers on American college campus, and the frequent lectures that liberals feel they must give everyday Americans about deeply imbedded racist tendencies. The most destructive force of all is simply the idea that liberals often promote that member of a racial minority have so many obstacles to overcome that they cannot do it without government help and even then it may be impossible. The message from the far left is even worse. Barak Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who’s made headlines of late claims that Blacks are the target of government conspiracies to murder by spreading aids. This message is totally destructive to the youth and adults alike. Is it not more compassionate to take the conservative perspective and thank God that slavery, Jim Crow laws, and forced segregation are behind us. Those terrible sins of our past are looked upon with utter disgust by most Americans today. So, let’s share the compassionate message. DECENCY, HONESTY, and HARD WORK will make you successful, regardless of your race. It is the decisions you make that form your future. We live in the land of opportunity where all men and women are created equal. That is the compassionate message and that is the message that everyone needs to hear in America where we are blessed with social mobility and freedom that does not discriminate based on the color of one’s skin.

Ethenol

Ethenol is one of the least compassionate things environmentalist liberals have pushed on our great nation. The use of ethenol, fuel made from corn, has had one major effect on our nation. It drove up the cost of food. The poor suffer the most from this development and the conservatives were the ones standing up for compassion towards the poor on this issue of late.

Iraq and Pacifism

Now the Iraq war is a complex issue and maybe you don’t think compassion is the issue. It is insofar as liberals claim that pacifism is the compassionate position. So, I will speak only of those who say the following: “We should leave Iraq now, because American troops are dying.” Now I must admit there is some intuitional force to this or to the statement, “Support our troops. Bring them home.” I think both statements, however, show a lack of compassion in two different ways. The first (besides being an entirely irresponsible position) lacks compassion because it seems clear and uncontroversial that if American troops leave Iraq, the Iraq people, for whose liberty we are fighting, will suffer great harm in the short term and the long term as a civil war will break out and Al-Qaida will fight for power in the region. Many Iraqi civilians will die needlessly. Many more than if we stay. The second statement lacks compassion for many of our troops. I would not be so naïve as to say that all of our troops want to be in Iraq. Many don’t agree with the war and many just don’t want to fight in a war. However, most, I contend, do not want to see the American military surrender or fail. It completely lacks compassion to pull the rug out from underneath our American military and cause them to suffer total disappointment when the American military has worked so hard and sacrificed so much for the Iraqi people. We must honor the troops by supporting their efforts, not their premature withdrawal.

To whom are pacifists compassionate? If you see a bully beating up a victim and you must use force to not only restrain them but to stop them from continuing, the compassionate thing to do is to stand up for the weak and the vulnerable.

Assisted Suicide

Legalized assisted suicide does not show compassion for one very large group of individuals. Elderly people requiring some sort of assistance may feel like they are a burden on their family members. What once was an opportunity (in classic liberal doublespeak) is now an obligation. The elderly individual now feels that he or she must find a doctor to assist in their suicide in order to alleviate any financially burden or incredible inconvenience on their family members. This person has been dehumanized by the liberals as he or she has been told that his or her “quality of life” does not warrant living another day. The same thing goes for those with mental and physical handicaps. Where is the liberal’s decency? The conservative and the compassionate response is to affirm that we are all valuable human beings, loved by our Creator, and everyone has the ability to enjoy happiness that comes from spreading a little cheer.

I will be compassionate towards you by stopping here. But there will be more in the future.

Bumper Sticker Back Talk: Don't agree with abortion? Don't have one.

-----------------------------IN RESPONSE----------------------------

The bumber sticker reads, "Don't agree with abortion? Don't have one." The implication is that since you have a personal choice, it doesn't not have to be illegal. Let's test the logic with an analogous argument.

What issue matters to you? Let's use dumping toxic waste into our streams and rivers.

Now how would you respond? "Don't agree wtih dumping toxic waste? Don't do it."

As it turns out, it doesn't make sense to make the statement on this sticker. My opponent may think that the analogy breaks down. One might say, "Abortion doesn't hurt anyone, it only effects the patient. Dumping toxic waste, however, is different because it hurts others."

Now you've got your finger on the pulse. The issue is whether abortion hurts anyone else besides the patient. Well...the answer is yes. Abortion does hurt others. Abortion stops a beating human heart.

Abortions aren't piercings. "Don't agree with body piercing. Don't do it." Although it will leave a scar for life.
